When a terror event happens scared Americans, shaken from their consumer product induced coma, often begin demanding answers.
After the inhuman and insane Paris attacks many citizens, perhaps overcome with fear and anger, demanded to know how faithful Muslims could have let the attacks happen and demanded that Muslim communities take responsibility for and apologize for the attacks.
This strain of fetid group think was shown in all of its intricate bigotry, know-nothingness and apoplectic xenophobia on CNN as two of its talking head news announcers aggressively demanded an apology from a member of the Parisian Muslim community and a promise to cull from the ranks of faithful Muslims all psychopathic killers in their midst.
Strangely, in our world of constant and unavoidable National Security wiretapping of every citizen – a fact of life in this modern world that people like TV reporters are fully aware of, CNN’s reporters neglected to ask why our well funded world-wide-surveillance-boondoggle failed at its single most important and obvious task (arrest homicidal terrorist criminals), and rather asked these questions of their interviewee;
“Why is it that no one in the Muslin community there in France knew what these guys (the killers) were up to?”
“What is the responsibility within the Muslim Community to identify what is happening in their own ranks when it comes to people who are obviously training and preparing to carry out mass murder?”
And then, slipping out of the normal role of a journalist, the bobble-heads made this demand of the interviewee;
“The Muslim community and the leaders should step up and take a greater role in looking at the young people and the roads that they are going down. You have to accept that responsibility.”
The response from the Parisian Muslim- simple to understand and spoken with frustration at the insinuations of the TV talking heads;
“We cannot accept the idea that these people are from us –they are not. They are just by-products of our societies exporting their wars abroad and expecting no repercussions back home…We cannot be held responsible for these people. That is government’s job. When you have criminals running around in your country, you do the job and arrest them.”
The point lost on these xenophobic and bigoted broadcasting bobble-head announcers is that the killers are not Muslims, but criminals. The interviewee attempted to remind the shouting bobble-heads that it is not the job of members of religious faiths to protect the community from criminal killers- but it is, rather, the job of the police, to stop criminals and protect citizens.
“There was never a good war, never a bad peace”
Self-appointed Internet patriots and demand levelers also took to the airwaves to require answers from the Muslim community in the US and to re-stoke baseless fears that a neo-American Muslim Caliphate is instituting Sharia Law across our red white and blue land, asserting that religious American Muslims are teaching hate to children and sheltering terrorist cells within their religious communities, and that mosques are in actuality ISIS training facilities that have to be surrounded by self-deputized gun toting Christian community watchers.
In fact several presidential candidates are keen on segregating religious infidels who come to America as refugees and the real estate sales man candidate even believes that the NSA should re-activate its unconstitutional practice of surveilling American mosques. He is joined by the neurosurgeon Christian cult member candidate who said, “I favor doing whatever we have to do to protect the American people. And if, in fact, there are mosques where there’s a lot of activity going on that’s radicalizing people, they must be treated differently,” and who went further calling for broad based surveillance stating that he would support, “monitoring a mosque or any church or any organization or any school or any press corps where there was a lot of radicalization and things that were anti-American.”
Mosque or church, school or press organization? I have to believe that this does not refer to FOXNews, Joel Osteen’s Christian Capitalism mega-church or Seventh Day Adventist private schools under the direction of the group’s “Office of Education“. And, just what does the cult member candidate consider to be “anti-American”, anyhow?
We might get some indication of what this vague threat of policing”anti-American” thoughts refers to if we listen to what other presidential candidates are saying. Just last week, days after the Paris attack, the former First Lady candidate conflated ISIS with Hamas – irresponsibly equating resistance to the occupation of Palestine by Israel with the prisoner beheading, women enslaving self-appointed re-establishers of the orthodox Muslim Caliphate, ISIS.
These red blooded but low intellect patriots really believe that immigrant Muslims are blinded by their “hate for American freedoms” and use our open society to instill the hatred of the other – unreasoning total hatred of anyone who does not believe in their god as they do – in their children.
Christian soldiers will tell you at any opportunity that it is shameful and immoral for religious Muslims to separate their children from other traditions, allow them to mingle only with other like-minded zealots, to describe the world in simple and stark terms that dissuades a growing person from attempting to understand the other and encourage them to be fearful of and suspicious of anything of the other.
This often subscribed to point of analysis somehow never is considered here in America after a well armed, psychopathic, racist, 24 year-old suburbanite male American shoots up a theater, grade school or church. No one ever demands that the Christian church that the American-psycho belonged to should be blamed for not taking “a greater role in looking at the young people and the roads that they are going down” and accept responsibility. It just doesn’t happen.
I suppose the reason this demand is never made in America in response to one of our many modern home grown mad-shooter incidents has to do with a perception that, “We live in America, a modern and educated society. Our religious leaders don’t separate our young people from society and teach them to not trust and even to hate others that they do not know and do not understand. We are open minded modernists who do not teach our children that they are child soldiers in an ages old religious-military conflict that spans continents and centuries and sets civilizations against one another careening towards an inevitable great religious war of historical proportions that will engulf all of mankind…we are too intelligent, too modern and basically too certain in our in our beliefs that we certainly don’t need to train our children to be religious bigots ready for a war,” or some such reasoning.
“I have no country to fight for. My country is the earth. I am a citizen of the world.”
On November 18, a young American from Sharon Massachusetts, Ezra Schwartz, 18, was killed by a terrorist in the the occupied West Bank.
The killer, identified in press reports as a Palestinian (note: not a Muslim), reportedly opened fire into a group of people and then slammed the vehicle he was driving into a crowd of pedestrians.
The attack killed three people, Schwartz, an unidentified Israeli and a Palestinian man, although it was not clear if the innocent Palestinian (a by-stander) was killed by the attacker or killed by Israeli Defense Forces at the scene of the incident, IDF forces have offered no comment regarding their investigation into the attack.
Schwartz had recently graduated from the Maimonides School in Brookline Massachusetts. The school describes itself as having been established in 1937 by “Rabbi Dr. Joseph B. Soloveitchik, zt’l, who is regarded as the paramount Orthodox thinker and teacher of the 20th Century.” The school describes that it is been committed to “developing young people within whom Judaic and general education, devotion to Judaism, and the desire to contribute to society are organically linked.” The school teaches grammar schoolers, middle schoolers and high school students in “a community of mitzvoth,” (precepts and commandments as commanded by God). Haaretz reported that Schwartz spent his summers as a counselor at “Camp Yavneh, a Jewish camp in New Hampshire.”
Schwartz, who graduated in 2015, had applied to university but was spending a “gap year” at Yeshivat Ashreinu, a school founded by Israelis on land in the illegally occupied West Bank.
The school accepts male students only and promises that the young Jewish men who attend the school will “gain a keen understanding of the myriad social issues facing Israeli society today.”
The school reported that Schwartz was with other Ashreinu students, “on their way to a routinely scheduled Yeshiva volunteer program,” when the terror attack took place.
What was the young religious students’ routine task of volunteerism on the last day of young Ezra’s life? The eighteen year-olds were, as their routine demands, delivering sweets and treats to soldiers from the Israeli Defense Forces to provide support and succor to the soldiers who stand guard enforcing the 40 year illegal occupation of Palestine, an occupation which is premised in part upon the students’ and the IDF soldiers’ religious belief that the God of Abraham permanently deeded the West Bank to followers of the Jewish faith more than 2000 years ago.
He’s five foot-two, and he’s six feet-four,
He fights with missiles and with spears.
He’s all of thirty-one, and he’s only seventeen,
Been a soldier for a thousand years.
Without him, how would Hitler have condemned them at Dachau?
Without him Caesar would have stood alone,
He’s the one who gives his body
As a weapon of the war,
And without him all this killing can’t go on.
He’s the Universal Soldier and he really is to blame,
His orders come from far away no more,
They come from here and there and you and me,
And brothers can’t you see,
This is not the way we put the end to war.
